David Childers & Dylan Walsh

A native and longtime resident of Mount Holly, North Carolina, Childers has built a decades-long career as a singer, songwriter, poet, painter, and recording artist. Before devoting himself more fully to his creative work, he practiced law and represented clients navigating the Social Security system. His songs reflect the landscapes, working communities, religious traditions, humor, hardships, and complicated characters of the American South.

Childers was inducted into the North Carolina Music Hall of Fame as a member of its 2025 class, joining fellow inductees Luke Combs, Clyde Mattocks, Hattie “Chatty Hatty” Leeper, Dexter Romweber, and Robert Deaton.

His music incorporates elements of country, folk, blues, gospel, rock and roll, and Southern literary storytelling. He has released an extensive body of recorded work, including Room 23, Serpents of Reformation, and Run Skeleton Run. His recordings have been released through North Carolina’s Ramseur Records, and his songwriting has earned the admiration of fellow North Carolina musicians, including The Avett Brothers.

Childers and Niblock have performed together for approximately a decade. Their duo performances place Childers’s songs and distinctive voice at the center, supported by Niblock’s acoustic guitar playing.

Opening artist Dylan Walshe was born and raised in County Dublin, Ireland, and is now based in western North Carolina. His work draws from Irish folk music, blues, country, and American roots traditions. A veteran touring performer, Walshe has shared stages with artists including Flogging Molly, The White Buffalo, and The Mahones and has recorded with James Fearnley of The Pogues.

The concert will bring together three seasoned musicians for an intimate afternoon centered on original songs, storytelling, and acoustic performance.
